Dayton has a bright future, but we have some major lingering problems left behind from years of improper planning. From dangerous roadways to water quality and supply issues, we need to make sure that the Dayton of the future is built on sound footing, and not a shaky foundation. Allowing these problems to continue unresolved only sets us up for failure. I will provide the drive and the options necessary for us to make financially responsible, reasonable, and scalable decisions that will set us up for a bright and prosperous future.
Fix Dayton's water quality and supply issues before they become worse. Rewrite the portions of our comp plan that do not match the reality of our situation so our planning guides can serve us better as we move towards our future. Work with Hennepin County to get funding for water and roadways. Far too long have they asked us to help with the housing shortage, but neglect their responsibility to our aging county roads and infrastructure. We need our partners at the table with us.
We need to continue to encourage our police and fire to engage with our population. These interactions promote good practices, disseminate important information to our community, and build bonds between our residents and their government and its staff. We need to continue to build safe ways for people to get from neighborhoods to our core amenities. Listen to residents to identify and discover challenges and safety concerns, and work with them to identify opportunities to improve.
