I have been a Hibbing resident for 43 years. I graduated high school here. I went to college here. I got married here, and now I am raising my family here. I have invested my life to the community and now that I have young children growing up and going to school in Hibbing, I want to try to be a part of making the city a better place to live and raise a family. I believe my 22 years of experience in law enforcement and participating in the city government side of Keewatin gives me a good understanding of how to get things done to improve a town and make it a better place to live. With other like minded officials in Hibbing and with the help of the community, I believe I can make an actual difference and get Hibbing moving forward again.
1) Attracting new businesses while making sure our current businesses thrive. I believe this is essential to the town's survival. Hibbing was once the hub of the Iron Range and has now fallen behind and watched cities like Virginia and Grand Rapids continue to thrive. 2) Keep the Memorial Building expansion moving forward. We need to keep up with the beautiful new facility in Virginia and all that it has to offer. 3) Reduce blight in the city. Unsightly properties need to be cleaned up.
Community policing has been a big part of my job as police chief in Keewatin. I hope to work alongside the Hibbing Police and promote this more. I also want to make sure our first responders have the tools they need and are being paid a fair and competitive wage with good benefits. These are keys to building quality departments and retaining and attracting quality employees.
