Why are you the best candidate for this position? (750 characters)

If elected, what will your top three priorities be and why? (500 characters)

How will you work with your community to promote public safety in our neighborhoods? (500 characters)

I feel I am the best candidate because of my ability to find creative solutions to problems. I have years of experience in very fast paced environments that require very quick decisions to complex issues. I am also very confident in my interpersonal communication skills as I have worked with the public for many years over the course of my career. I graduated from Indiana University with a double major in communication and culture, as well as, telecommunications.

I also challenge myself to be a positive presence in the community through volunteer work and giving to the less fortunate.
The first thing I would do is look into the city's finances and ask as many questions as possible. It's very important to me to make sure there is no wasteful spending.

I would also look at all the community assistance programs because I think it's very important that everyone has the opportunities for growth.

I would also make it a priority to make myself available to those with concerns and look into ongoing concerns that haven't been resolved.

I believe that in order to promote public safety it's important that everyone is doing their part. There needs to be a strong partnership between the elected officials and the police. I also think it's important for the police to have a positive presence in the community. In order for this to be the case everyone in a position of power needs to be held to a very high standard.

I am running for New Hope City Council because I want to further strengthen New Hope. I am very passionate about the city I have lived in for more than 40 years. I will strengthen the performance and accountability reporting I introduced in 2015 so residents can assess how well New Hope is performing. I will continue to improve our aging infrastructure without supporting new debt issuance. I will champion high quality commercial and residential redevelopment. I will continue to support effective and accountable public safety.

I am for greater fiscal restraint. My personal property taxes have increased more than 9% each of the last three years. Over the last ten years my property taxes have increased an average of 7.75% per year.
My top priority will continue to be Public Safety. It is import that our Police are accountable and effective in providing service to all community members.

The next priority is a strong community development/redevelopment department and code enforcement. The scattered site housing program will continue to be a priority. There are numerous commercial sites that are targets for redevelopment.

Additionally, I will continue to advocate for lower taxes.
I will continue to support an effective and efficient team of public safety members from the City, County and State. I will continue to advocate for greater effectiveness in public safety outreach and community involvement. I will make sure there are multiple lines of communication open to residents to contact their Council Members, City Staff, and Public Safety members.

I will continue to advocate for greater code enforcement and more effective responses to correcting neighborhood issues.

I am running for New Hope City Council to continue making New Hope a great place to live and a safe place to live, for everybody. As a mechanical engineer, my career has helped develop exceptional problem solving skills and logical thinking, skills which will be very useful on the city council.
-Public safety. Ensuring the police department is accountable to the people they serve and fiscally responsible. There's no way to talk about lowering taxes without addressing the most expensive costs. -Find a way to legally codify that New Hope will always be a safe place for people who need or want an abortion. -Ensure affordable home ownership will exist in the long term. It's wrong for corporations to own the housing stock.
Call for a decline in militarization of the police force - start by ensuring no further funding to the MRAP. A "scary" police department does not correlate to public safety. Support community outreach by the department - in 4+ years, I've never had an officer approach me to say hi, stop their car as I was walking just to say hi, or approach a citizen when it didn't relate to citing or arresting them. Waiting for people to come to you at a coffee hour just isn't community outreach.
