I have a unique set of qualifications to bring to the council. I grew up in Northfield and Faribault and I have worked mainly in restaurants and in the trades as a carpenter. Lately, I've been working at the Minnesota Senate and doing work around housing, which led me to be appointed to the Northfield Planning Commission. Through these roles, I have developed an interest in affordable housing options and zoning policy and want to focus there as a policy-maker in Northfield. Lastly, I'm part of the LGBTQ+ community. I'd be the first transgender person elected to the council, which would also add to the unique perspective I’d bring to the council.
1. Increasing housing options through zoning reform and other innovative solutions. 2. Finding new ways to engage with all communities to get input on projects the city is tackling and what direction we go in the future. 3. Engaging at the state level to create strong partnerships that benefit our town.
I want to listen to all perspectives on what true public safety in our town is, including from officers and communities that have historically been over-policed. I’m committed to programs like the partnership between the police department and NCCC, which helps people who grew up in Northfield become officers here and increases the diversity of the force. We need to continue funding for social workers to be embedded in the department. This is all vital to public safety that works for everyone.
