1. Be a good listener, then govern using common sense. 2. Understand the issues the city is dealing with. 3. Be a participant in solutions to those concerns, working towards a consensus of the council.

I am a proven, positive leader who has lived in Red Wing for 30 years. I LOVE my community and the people who live here. I have served our community in many ways. These include as a public school teacher & administrator, a member of the Red Wing Sustainability Commission and the Red Wing Charter Commission, a volunteer and board member for Phoenix Theatre and Soapbox Players, a volunteer for the Red Wing Food Shelf and a church member. In working for our public school system I got to know many Red Wing families and to see the community from their perspective. My commitment as your Ward 2 City Council member will be to listen to you, to learn about each topic that comes before the council, to act inclusively and with integrity. Always.
My three top priorities are: 1) Being a good steward of financial resources as I carefully consider all expenditures as well as our system of taxes. 2) Help attract young families to our community. This includes housing, creating more spaces, places and activities that cater to families with children and promoting Red Wing as a great place to raise children. 3) Addressing concerns related to climate change that are already having an impact (financially and environmentally) on our community.
Public safety is multi-faceted. Housing, mental health and recovery resources and simply being "good neighbors" to one another are all part of the equation and I will work with city leaders and residents to address these issues proactively. In addition to supporting these needs, I commit to being responsive to residents' concerns about public safety, having positive communication with the local police chief and other department heads to address public safety concerns in our community.
