Cloquet City Mayor

The role of city mayor can vary from city to city. However, the mayor is usually the head of the city and may represent the city in front of other government bodies. A mayor also usually has a role in proposing a city budget that is approved by the city council. The budget influences the services the city provides to its residents. Mayors sometimes are voting members of city council, and in some cities the mayor is in charge of city council meetings.

We enjoy a quality of life in Cloquet that many take for granted. It requires strong leadership to sustain what we have and for residents and businesses to prosper and thrive. I have the business and political experience to provide the leadership required to make that happen with 17 years of city council and economic development experience as well as 30 years of experience as an architect, partner and board member of a large architectural firm.

I'm retired and can be a fully engaged Mayor, always available to meet and work with residents, businesses and our political partners.

The Key - Proven Experienced Leadership
JOB GROWTH/JOB RETENTION - develop working relationships with our businesses to assure continued success and longevity, as well as work with our economic development partners to attract new businesses.

RESPONSIBLE FISCAL MANAGEMENT - conservative approach to budget development focusing on basic services and needs and capital investment based on long term planning.

HOUSING SHORTAGE - collaborate with housing agencies and developers, review land development policies, strategies and opportunities
It starts with neighbors knowing their neighbors which has become increasingly uncommon, especially in transitional neighborhoods. Programs like National Night Out are a good opportunity to overcome this. I would advocate for implementing a strong Community Policing strategy where law enforcement regularly interacts with the public and works with neighborhoods to resolve conflict and proactively work to reduce safety concerns.
