I have learned many things about our public education system throughout my first term, and I look forward to continuing to learn and apply this knowledge at the board table to advocate for our district and public education. I had the privilege to be elected to the Minnesota School Board Association’s Delegate Assembly in my first term, where I was able to advocate for the needs of our district at the state level. I am also proud of my work on the Board Operations Committee, where I have used that opportunity to make changes to district policy using an equity lens. I continue to stand for educational equity for all students, school safety, supporting the emotional health of our students and staff, advocating for our community schools.
-Ensuring all students have an equal opportunity to succeed with equitable supports. -Promoting safe schools and flexible learning spaces. -Support the social and emotional needs of our students and staff.

For our students to learn to their potential they need to learn in an environment that is safe and supportive. They need to have equitable supports to match their needs and after coming off of the pandemic we need to make sure our student's and staff's mental health is supported.
If our students and staff do not feel safe in our schools, our students will not be able to learn and our teachers will not be able to teach. Continuing to invest in supports that address the social and emotional needs is vital. Safety is also promoted by improving our building infrastructure. Throughout my first term, I supported adding and improving secured vestibules in our schools.
