I am the best candidate for the office of Council Member for Ward 1 because I have a demonstrated track record of being dedicated, reliable, and putting service above self. I have resided in Ward 1 since returning home from the Marine Corps. I have served in several voluntary and appointed positions in the community. I am dedicated to my community and fellow residents. If elected I will be available year-round for them to help address any concerns or issues that may arise with city services. I believe local government is done right when elected officials are available and willing to listen. Residents want explanations on city operations and they need an advocate to carry their concerns to City Staff. I promise I will be that advocate.
If elected my three main priorities will be to provide oversight on City services and the quality of their delivery, ensuring residents have a voice and that their concerns are heard and addressed to the best possible end, and focusing on finding areas where intergovernmental and interagency cooperation can help Mankato to remain a great place to live and continue to thrive for future generations.
Mankato has an outstanding public safety department. I have worked with many of them in my professional career. To improve public safety, I believe we must support these departments to ensure they have the level of staffing they need, so they can safely perform their duties, but also meet the needs of residents. As a Council Member it should be incumbent on us to increase communication between residents and the department, while ensuring that the needs of our diverse community are being met.
