In my 38 years as a resident of Maplewood, my major contribution was the role I played in leading the development of St Johns Hospital and serving as its administrator. During that process I learned how to effectively work with the Maplewood staff and City Council to develop a regional asset located in Maplewood. My business background has allowed me to serve as President of the Maplewood Economic Development Authority whereby we are currently focused on redevelopment options for vacant homes as well as workforce and affordable housing. In addition, I serve on the Design Review and the Planning Commissions to further my connection to business development. My additional interest will focus on juvenile crime and public safety.
Redevelopment and new development is key to establish Maplewood as a good to live and also work. We have situations whereby juvenile crime needs special attention, I have experience for past work with juveniles that will be helpful in balancing interdiction and support programs. Continue to support the development of healthcare opportunities that bring services to Maplewood Residents but also encourage regional services.
I served on the 2016 Public Safety/ Fire/ EMS task force and became inspired to seek a position on the City Council. with my healthcare background, I encouraged embedding public safety in any community engagement opportunity possible. It is important to meet the public in their "backyard" to form relationships. I believe that respect goes both ways and we need to support our public safety personnel with dialogue and awareness of their roles and expectations and what they expect of the City .

I am a seasoned business professional working for one of the largest financial firms in the world. My various positions have helped me hone my communication, client relationship, leadership, problem solving, and strategic thinking skills.

I served multiple terms on the Elko New Market City Council. During my years of service, I participated in the below committees/boards: *Scott County Human Resource Board. *I35 Coalition. *Scott County 50 X 30. *Scott County Workforce Readiness. *Metropolitan Valley Transit Authority Board.

I am also proud to be an AARP volunteer and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. I have no political agenda and only want to serve the city in an equitable and responsible manner.
* Community safety - the rise in violence and mental health concerns has escalated to such a degree it needs to be our top priority. * Community revitalization and development - By bringing new life to areas that have long been vacant or neglected we can attract new jobs, increase services and amenities, and add additional housing options. This in turn improves our tax base. * Public Transportation - This has been been raised to me as a community concern. Therefore it is a priority for me.
Knowledge is the first step to solving most issues. I would ensure that we provide information to our community on how we can each make our neighborhoods safer. This would include potentially forming an oversight committee. There are also some new programs in use in the country that bear review. I would propose that our city investigate the viability of these as well. The level of violence and mental health has reached epic levels. We need to change how we intervene and respond.
