RED WING, MN 55066
There are clear differences on policy, values, and future direction. I will maintain our professional fire and ambulance service, fund our parks, protect the rights of all, and be guided only by citizens. The partnership we began in 2003 introduced a culture of cooperative, responsive government guided by principles of fairness, respect, and responsibility. We set Red Wing on a path of low taxes, wise spending, and strong public safety that became the foundation of today’s prosperity. We kept the 2023 budget flat again by cutting payroll. I will not cut services without citizen input. Over the years serving you, I hope I have earned your trust, your friendship, and your vote. I would be honored to continue our partnership.
1. Low Taxes and Wise Spending. The average increase has been .2%. Our tax base has doubled. Business now pays 63%. Red Wing’s tax rate ranks 20th lowest of 22 similar cities. Listening to the People. Together, we turned dreams into reality. I will continue to focus on a healthy future for our families.
In contrast to my opponent, I will keep professionals providing fire and ambulance protection. There is new police training, plus a new focus on cooperation and officer retention that is making us all safer. Comparing crime from 2019 (the last full year before the 2020 pandemic that kept everyone at home) to 2021, shows that crime is down 17%, including: Drug Violations - down 65%, Robbery - down 100% and Sex Offenses - down 89%.
