I’ve served in this role for the past four years and am proud of how we’ve addressed the needs of our community by engaging as many residents as possible in decision making. We’ve focused on improving walkability and accessibility, redevelopment efforts that are the right fit for our city and continued to make infrastructure a priority. I’ve proud we’ve been able to do these things while being fiscally smart and being able to plan for our future. I will continue to put an emphasis on listening to input from others to make the best-informed decisions possible. In addition, I was elected to the League of Minnesota Cities’ Board of Directors, serve on our South Metro Fire Board, and act as a council liaison to our Park & Rec Advisory Committee
I’ll continue to make outreach and engagement a priority. It’s important we hear from as many people in our community as possible when planning for our city’s future, especially communities that have historically ignored. I’ll also advocate for smart spending while making sure West St. Paul has the amenities we need to be an ideal place to live. This is important to maintain the vibrancy of our city. I will also make sure we’re focusing on accessibility and safety with decision we’re making.
Prioritizing mental health and appropriate levels of staffing for our fire and police departments has been something I’ve promoted and will continue to promote. I have good working relationships with the chiefs of both departments and am always proud to see the level of responsibility they hold for ongoing community outreach in West St. Paul. Being involved in community events and showing everyone our commitment to that is crucial in maintaining public safety in our city.
