I believe I would bring a new perspective as a first time candidate. I have 30 years of both consulting and IT related experience, the last 20 years in the Government sector which I retired from in 2019. I am extremely financially conservative, respecting the value of every dollar. In my previous work experience, I looked at all major decisions objectively. I needed to understand the request; determine if it is a want or a need; identify what or who is impacted and how; calculate the cost; assist in determining the funding source. Some decisions are easy, others more complex, all should be evaluated the same. I believe this is how government should work, by respecting the taxpayer’s dollar. Sometimes “no” is an acceptable answer.
To understand the decision making process involved in the road management; identify the impact those decisions have on the affected residents; make sure residents are made well aware of any proposed changes that may impact them. Although infrastructure is important, we must also consider its impact on adjacent neighborhoods. I want to ensure that residents are adequately informed in advance of pending changes, allowing them to participate and be heard early in the process.
In my opinion, “social prosperity” is driven by the residents, not the government. The government should provide and support the law enforcement to protect the residents they serve. Economic prosperity will happen when businesses invest in safe communities.
