I have served Champlin as the Ward 1 City Councilmember since January of 2017; Economic Development Authority Commissioner, A-H Community Education Advisory Boardmember, and community volunteer. I understand the issues at hand in Champlin -- Public Safety, Mississippi Crossings, street and infrastructure maintenance, succession planning, City Department, and asset oversight. My approach to representation is open, communicative, and solution-oriented. I act for the greater good and to reach common ground. The well-being of our City and the residents are at the heart of every decision. I am skilled in consensus building, strategic planning, and conflict resolution. I strive to respond quickly to residents' questions and concerns.
A high priority is public safety and supporting measures to maintain quality of life and experiences in Champlin. The Council also needs to define and establish a successful operations model at Mississippi Crossings to fully realize the Vision that has been 20 years in the making. In Ward 1 in particular, there is a lot of work to do collaboratively with the County to improve user safety on City streets. A roundabout at Brookside/French Lake Road/Elm Creek Crossing is needed by 2024.
The Council is activating a new Public Safety initiative in 2023 to add three patrol officers to our Police Department. Resident education via Community Development, code enforcement and proactive community-wide communications. Neighborhood and community-wide functions that build community connections and relationships between residents, businesses, community organizations and City Departments. Above all, activate residents to get involved and be good stewards of our great community.
