My decision to run for school board was well thought out and was made after talking to my family, teachers within and outside of the district, community members and families throughout our combined community. I felt that if I want to affect change within the district now was the best time. In my opinion there is a need for leadership on the school board. Consistent and decisive leadership is crucial to developing vision and plans for the district in today’s environment. Engaged leadership at all levels set the conditions for ISD 15 to not only be a relevant educational institution but also a premier location for educators and staff.
If elected my goal would be to provide valuable input, decisive leadership, be an example of respect and strive to meet the needs of our district. All of this to ensure positive change and growth across the district. I want to ensure that our school board continues to provide direction and focus for the district to grow and prosper as we work through the challenges that are and will face this district in the future.
This will require a collaborative approach to addressing safety in our schools. This will be a top priority and will require input from all involved. Ultimately as a School Board member, I will ensure the district staff and students have the resources, tools and capabilities needed to ensure a safe environment for learning and growing.

My qualifications for a position on our school board begins with my involvement within the district over my 21 years within the district. I am driven toward improving our community and improving opportunities for our students, parents, teachers, administration and residents. I currently serve on several committees ranging from executive status to vice chair. My committment is to listen and provide common sense input to discussions.
When elected my top three goals will be: a. Introduce a farm to school food program that will teach our students how to become self-sustaining adults and to instill confidence in their abilities to do so. b. Approve a curriculum that teaches the fundamentals required to live independently upon graduation including trades skills and financial responsibility. c. Increase safety in our schools to encourage a healthier learning and working environmen.
Safety is paramount to a stable and functional learning environment. What will make the teachers feel safer? How can the teachers and administration provide protection for students? I would love to have that discussion with the teachers and administration. As the first line of defense we need to create and initiate protocol that largely considers and includes their input.
